5 Little Monsters: Carrot Shaped Dipped Rice Krispie Treats

Carrot Shaped Dipped Rice Krispie Treats

I'm not sure why I have carrots on my mind for Easter projects this year, but for some reason I do since this is the second carrot themed project in a row that I am sharing. Earlier this week it was a crocheted carrot bag, and now dipped carrot shaped Rice Krispie treats for a fun Easter treat.

I actually thought of this project while I was at the store picking up candy to take pictures of my carrot bag, so that was what I was thinking of. While I was at the store getting candy for pictures, I also wanted to pick up a treat to stick in my kids lunches. I saw the Rice Krispie Treats and the idea for this project popped into my head. So I grabbed the box of Rice Krispie Treats and headed to the baking aisle to pick up some other supplies.

You could obviously make your own Rice Krispie Treats and cut them into triangles, but using the store bought treats made this super easy to make, which I like. I just cut each bar in half diagonally to make a long, skinny triangle. Then dipped it in orange candy melts.

After that I made little paper toppers to stick in the top. This was honestly the hardest part to come up with. At first I tried to think of what I could do with some kind of candy, or even just green candy melts, but nothing really seemed like a great idea, then I thought of paper toppers and they worked out great, looked cute, and were super easy to make.

I cut the toppers out with my Cricut, wrapped them around a toothpick and stuck them in the top. They were easy to pull out before eating the treat.

While I was dipping the carrots I also just dipped some of the Rice Krispie Treats in the candy melts and added some cute spring sprinkles for another easy Easter treat, or change up the colors and sprinkles for any holiday. Either way, carrots or just dipped Rice Krispie Treats they are a cute and easy spring treat. Put them in a little treat box, or tie them in a cellophane bag for an easy gift idea.

How to Make Carrot Shaped Rice Krispie Treats

You will need:

Instructions:

If using store-bought Rice Krispie Treats open the packages and cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles, each treat will make 2 carrots. If using treats that you made just cut them into long skinny triangle shapes.

Melt the orange candy melts in a small bowl. I melted them in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring each time until they were melted.

Dip the Rice Krispie treats in the melted candy, or spoon it over until all but the very top edge is completely covered.

Use a fork to drizzle more of the melted candy to create the lines across the carrots.

If dipping the full Rice Krispie Treats sprinkle on the sprinkles right away so they stick to the melted candy.

Set aside until set.

Open my Carrot Toppers Design Space File and cut out as many copies as you need from paper or lightweight cardstock.

Alternatively, if you do not have a cutting machine, cut a square about 2.5". Then cut fringe along the top, leaving a little bit along the bottom edge connected (about .5").

Roll on a layer of adhesive along the bottom edge or the carrot topper.

Place the toothpick on one side of the carrot topper, stuck to the adhesive. I placed it so the end was just a little higher than the uncut portion of the topper. Then roll the topper around the toothpick, pressing it tightly to secure.

Poke the toothpick into the top of the carrot.

Package if desired in cellophane bags or treat boxes.
