Today I am joining Marie from Underground Crafter, and several other crochet bloggers in the 5th annual Halloween Crochet Along With CAL Central. Throughout this crochet along, which runs from August 21, 2023- September 28, 2023, a new halloween themed crochet pattern will be shared twice a week, each Monday and Thursday. And today is my turn!

There are also fun prizes you can win if you make and share some of the crochet along projects, so be sure to follow along for lots of Halloween fun. head over to Underground Crafter for all of the details of how to join in and win prizes, as well as get links to all of the other Halloween projects, and any other information you need.

As I was deciding what I wanted to make for my project I really wanted to make some kind of small treat holder that could be given as a little Halloween favor or gift. I have made Halloween candy bowls in the past but they were always bigger, to hold a lot of candy, and this time I wanted something more individual,  something that would work up fast and hold just a few small pieces of candy.

One of the candy bowls that I made years ago was a cauldron. It was made holding multiple strands of yarn together so it was bigger and sturdier. I thought it would be fun to take that idea and shrink it down to mini size. So I did!

This version of the crocheted cauldron is made very similar to the large version, except it uses only a single strand of worsted weight yarn (I used Loops and Threads Impeccable because I had some on hand in black, but any similar yarn would do) and the stitch counts are a little different in order to keep it the size I wanted.

It is just the right size to hold a few pieces of candy, or fill a little baggie with Halloween M&M's, or other small candy, to look like a cauldron of bubbling potion.
