Today is Day 6 of the Pond Pals Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along. That means we are already halfway through and today finishes up week 1 of the 2 week long crochet along. Today is another little bug, this time a Bumbling Bee.

Similar to the turtle yesterday, I actually already had a pattern for a little bee, but it was just a little bit bigger than the bugs I was making for this set. So in the end it is similar to my old bee amigurumi pattern, but also a little different, including a little bit smaller.

One thing that I have kind of struggled with a little with the bugs is whether or not to add legs. On my old bee pattern it had little arms, but just 2 of them. As I have designed each of the bugs I have felt like I either needed to make 6 legs, or none. I didn't like the look of 6 legs on the bee, and same with the dragonfly, but the ant obviously needed legs. So what I have chosen to do is for the flying bugs I have left the legs off and just had wings, and for the crawling bugs I have added legs.

The little bee is made with a pointy stinger, black and yellow striped body, yellow head, little round wings and a two tiny antennae.

The finished bee is about 4" tall. The first week of the Crochet Along is Done, six more to go next week. Just as a reminder there is no new pattern tomorrow (Sunday 4/7/24), the next new pattern will come on Monday 4/8. With the bee wrapping up week 1 we now have a dragonfly, an ant, a hummingbird, a worm, a turtle, and a bee.
