It is Day 9 of the Pond Pals Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along. Three quarters of the way done, only 3 more days to go. The animal that joins the Pond Pals today is a little Friendly Frog.

The little frog was one of the more challenging designs for me to figure out. I really wanted to have long legs for jumping, and I wasn't sure exactly how I was going to make it look the way I was hoping. The solution I ended up coming up with was using chenille stems in the back legs to bend them in the way I wanted. You can play around with them and position them in the way you prefer. I put them behind the frog, bent at the knee, but you could also have them hanging in front like long legs.

The body of the frog is the same as several of the other animals, so in that way it is the same size as most of the others, about 4" tall, but the big legs make it one of the bigger animals in the set.

A couple other differences between the little frog and the other animals is that rather than the eyes being inserted on the head, they are on little bumps that are sewn onto the head. Also for the mouth on most of the animals (other than the birds that have beaks/bills instead of mouths) I made a very small embroidered smile, but for the frog I made a long, wide smile that stretched across the head.

Even though this was one of the animals I was most nervous to design, I think it turned out to be one of my favorites. I think it turned out pretty cute. Day 9 leaves the little group of Pond Pals with a Dragonfly, Ant, Hummingbird, Worm, Turtle, Bee, Mallard, Butterfly, and now the Frog
